Mine (Coal), 1868-1969.
Site of mine adit located immediately E of the No.1 Pit shaft, both now buried below rough vegetation. Accessed extensive longwall workings mostly worked from nearby pits of the Muircockhall Colliery, worked over several decades in multiple seams (e.g. Eight Feet Coal, Cairncubie) to the E & N of Townhill.
