Mine (Coal), 20th cent.
Site of a mouth to an adit that dipped to the WSW with a gradient of 1 in 5 to meet roadways in the Upper Five Foot, Diamond, Jewel, & Nine Foot Coal seams as part of the Devon Colliery complex [site #11043]. The Nine Foot Coal at the end of the dook was worked in room-&-pillar form at the W end of the complex, including an area underlying [NS 8799 9630] on the opposite side of the River Devon, >1km way from the meta mine mouth. This portal was treated in 1965 & is now buried below grassland within the grounds of a caravan site.
