Shaft marked on Geological Survey map on eastern edge of Pittencrieff Quarry. OS Town Plan of 1856 shows this as a well, with an old coal pit located ca. 30m further S. The coal pit shaft was 12m-deep and situated beside the crop of the Dunfermline Splint, now treated & built over by a residential parking area near the junction with Dewar St at [NT 08719 87698].
