Notes: A literal translation of the Gaelic name Uamhanan Alt Alstail recorded in Discovery is the little caves (uamhanan) of the cliff (alt, one L vs allt, two Ls meaning stream) of Alstle (unknown). The Alternate name the Little Caves of Glen Alstle comes from the caves location at the west end of Lower Glen Astle.
