Generic reference to caves at the foot of Reekie Linn.
Two/three caves in gorge at foot of upper waterfall. Old rough footpath from down stream. Hut (generator shed) perched on side of cliff. Awkward scramble around slippery rocks over deep fast flowing water to smaller undercut unfortunately does not quite reach inaccessible larger cave.
Do not attempt in wet weather.
The impressive waterfall is one of the most spectacular in Scotland. At the base of the waterfall is a dark cave called Black Dub, where legend has it that an outlaw once hid until the devil appeared before him in the form of a giant black dog. The outlaw was so scared that he turned himself in the next day. [visitangus]
