Apart from references to supernatural fantasy and a recent trend for children to build small houses for elves in woodlands; the term Elf House is occasionally used by Victorian antiquaries as a generic term for souterrains (probably derived from local folk-lore).
Alternative Names: Erd House
Notes: Probably a corruption of Erd House or Earth House.
