Port Uamh na Gaibhre [1]

Mull, Loch Scridain, Argyll & Bute.

Sea Cave or possibly a raised beach sea cave at the west end of Biod an Sgairbh, west of Port Uamh na Gaibhre. Aerial photographs show a deep flooded inlet the inshore end of which is in deep shadow (coastal cliff about 10-15m high). About 10-15 m inland across raised beach shelf is second cliff rising to 40-45 m. There may be a continuation of the lower cave in the upper cliff along the same line of weakness.

Notes: Port Uamh na Caibhre appears to be a typo on the OS map as the OS namebook says Gaibhre.

Access to the foreshore by the cave entrance should be possible from on land but easier by kayak (which would be needed to reach the cave entrance itself).
