Small cave, Narrow entrance, little more than a narrow cleft, just sufficient to admit body , 0.5m wide at base, 1.1m high, narrowing to point at top, but much larger inside. Extends 2.5m inwards & height increases slightly to 1.6m. At the rear, turns sharply to right, but terminates almost immediately.

Notes: Great quantity of human bones taken from cave before 1870. Traditionally the remains of 17th century raiders 1794). Mr Ferguson stated that about 1840 interior of cave very large, but has since been filled with stones etc. No information encountered regarding finds in cave. Surveyed at 1/2500 scale.

Visited by OS (W D J) 2 December 1964. NM 848 293 Archaeological investigative works required in respect of extension of Cardingmill Cottage, Oban. Area consisted of landscaped ground to S of existing cottage. L-shaped area opened approximately 12 x 1m on 16 July 2007, corresponding to southern & eastern limits of development area. No archaeological significant features were recorded during the archaeological works. Report deposited with WoSAS and archive with RCAHMS. Funder: Mr Finlo Cottier.

Alan Matthews, 2007. NM 8485 2940 Watching brief carried out 1-22 August 2011 during site clearance associated with construction of new house at Cardentrive, Gallanach Road. Site, located close to caves containing archaeological remains, found to have been heavily disturbed in the past & no significant archaeological features or finds were recorded.
