CQ3

A supratidal cave which is wide compared with its height and faces 328 (NW by N). At 11.7 m in it gets to a flat out crawl for 4 m then turns right to due S for another 10m. There is also a rift tunnel 2.1 m long in the arch above right at 11.7 m in. Under ca 12.4 m of cliff overhang (which has not been included in the length).

Notes: Access: steeply down from the cliff top path at about NJ 16952 70338 through disused Covesea Quarry workings and then a steep rock debris slope. Slightly easier at the E end. Bottom half of tide.

Photo 4 shows the entrance from straight on with the two joints which go down to the corners of the entrance arch. The entrance has been undercut outwards lower down on both sides.

Photo 6 on the right, and above the lower part at 11.7 m in, is this rift extension which goes 2.1 m in by LRF.
Photo 7 was taken inside the flat out crawl, after it had turned right and looks S towards the end. On the left is part of the orb web of a cave spider.
