In the neighbourhood of "Coille-bhraghad" is a Silver Mine, now disused. Many of the working or "Inclines" are yet to be seen. [Scotland's Places]

Mining operations were begun at Coille Bhraghad near the Cromallt Burn, about one and a half miles south of Inveraray. The mine was begun as a copper mine by the Duke of Argyll and in 1851 the workings were found to nickel. For this nickeliferous ore there was ready sale. Between 1854 and 1867, nine tons of copper ore and 417 tons of nickel ore were produced. Until 1873, the miners under their foreman Neill McGougan worked part of the week at Craignure near Auchindrain and part of the week at Coille Bhraghad. At that date, business transacted between the Manager at Coille Bhraghad and rs. Watts, Blackburn & Co., Clay Merchants, Newton Abbot, Devon" [Royal Burgh of Inverary]

Between 1854 and 1867 more than 400 t of nickel ore, comprising pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, pyrite and pentlandite, were produced from the Coille-bhraghad deposit. [BGS][

Coille Broghaide is transcription error.
