Links and Resources:
- 1st Ed OS 25 in shows Cauldron Cove a little SE of St Abb's Lighthouse.
- OS Namebook for Berwickshire, parish of Coldingham: "A cave in the face of a steep rocky brae here. The noise of the waves when breaking against the sides of this cavern is said to resemble in sound that of a boiling cauldron, hence the name."
- Canmore Aerial of this part of St Abb's Head with the cave entrance indicated.
- Photo 1 is the second on the page and shows the cave entrance in context, but from quite far away.
- 2009 video 1 of kayak trip N from Eyemouth has a seacave which may be this one. It is clear that the cave (see photos 2-4) is south of St Abb's Lighthouse. This cave seems most likely, but Harelaw Cove is another possibility.
- Photo 2 is a still from video 1 showing the entrance.
- Photo 3 is a still from the above video 1 showing what looks like a blowhole from somewhere inside. However, if you watch video 2, it is pretty clear that the camera is seeing the top part of the entrance over a rock.
- Photo 4 is a still from video 1 looking out of the entrance from inside.
- Video 2 taken in 2013 on a trip from Eyemouth northwards shows a bit more of this cave (at least the same on as video 1!) from 10:36 to 13:06. The cave seems pretty dark once through the first narrows and they had only headlights so not much of ithe dark part can be seen.
