A just supratidal, near vertical rift sea-cave, facing NE, on the west side of Stendreach - a promontory.
"Here are found several varieties of orchids and many ferns-among others, the Polypodium vulgare, the shield fern, the Asplenium marinum, and the black Trichomanes or bristle fern. The last named is found in a deep damp recess-as far as I know the only place along this part where it is got. The shore and the great rock on the east side get the name of 'Steine Dreich.' On the west side of the rock is a small cave where we again find the Asplenium marinum." [Banffshire Field Club]
