Sinkhole 2 m x 3 m, fenced. Sea noises from below. [Nigel Feilden]

A very remarkable Hole situate a short distance south of the Village of Sarclet, depth about 250 feet. [ScotlandsPlaces] This is clearly a gross overestimate (76 m). OS shows it between the 35 and 30 m contours.

Hole of Troupa - This hole has been there for many more years than anyone can remember. A long time ago it was fenced but it rotted and fell into disrepair. Many years ago there was a man fell down it and his body was retrieved from the sea and taken out in a fishing basket. It is a dangerous place to investigate as its saucer shaped at the top and If the grass is wet its a death trap. It should have been sign posted long before now. Anyone having a look would strongly advise CAUTION. [Tony (Tighsanos4)]

Alternate Names: None recorded.

Notes: Length estimates; 32 m from ground level at gloup down to average sea level and 30 m to sea entrance.

Needs sea level entry to check which cave is connected to this gloup. A look at aerial shows it to be aslo quite close to the sea to the east (ca 55 m) and the channel lines suggest that a sea level connection in that direction (ESE) is a possibility.
