Railway tunnel (19th Century), active.
NO 1191 2123 (N portal by Friarton) to NO 1175 2018 (SW portal by Craigend).
Operational since 1848, despite being bombed by a German aircraft in 1940. Serves both the Stirling - Perth main line and Fife - Perth line which amalgamate just south of the tunnel at Hilton Junction.
The 1994 edition of the OS 1:100,000 map notes air three shafts (NO 1194 2108, 1193 2064 and 1185 2037).
