Mine (coal & ironstone), 19th Century.
"A coal and Ironstone Pit situated a short distance north of Boghall farm house, the property of Mr. John Wilson & Sons" [OS Namebook, 1856-67].
Locality now buried in woodland, much of which appears to have grown across an extensive bing (presumably associated with this pit) located beside Salterland Rd.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Marked as 'Boghall Pit (Coal & Ironstone)' on 1864 OS 6" map, but evidently abandoned by time of 1898 version (surveyed in 1896). Annotated with '35 fms [64m] to Salterland Coal' on 1909 geol. survey map.
