Mine (Coal & Fireclay?), late 19th to early 20th Century.
Site of No.5 Pit became a brick works, hence it is likely that this shaft extracted fireclay, which Holytown Colliery was producing alongside coal in 1900-1920. Shaft site at given 8 fig. coordinates now occupied by woodland.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Coal was being produced by Holytown Colliery in 1900 and earlier. Site of No.5 Pit shown as being a coal pit on 1st Ed OS map, although this was possibly an adjacent shaft to Pit No.5 (multiple shafts shown here on MRA map).
