Mine (Fireclay), 20th Century.
Relatively small-scale pillar-and-stall workings below field immediately south of Mavisbank cottage. Abandonment plan (see refs) shows entrance locations at sites now covered by woodland, whilst geol. survey map shows entrance further NW (at given 8 fig. coordinates), linked to workings by c.290 m-long access tunnel. This was probably an extension to allow easier supply to the Callendar Brick Works, just NW of the given coordinates. Mine operated by Callendar Brick & Fireclay Co Ltd, and closed in 1966.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Labelled as Mavisbank Mine with "road to Cox. workings" on geol. survey map.
