Sluice on the line of the Knowle Burn. Overflow leading to balancing pond (or swale to reduce flooding downstream).
This scheme comprised the construction of a flood storage pond in front of the [now demolished] council offices in Dumbarton as part of a £3.5 million project to protect drivers and nearby residents from the flooding which has become an increasing problem in recent years. This included a 60m long embankment and 11m spillweir both protected by Erosion Control Blankets to collect overspill water from the Burn (watercourse). [Greenfix]
