Mine (Ironstone, & Coal?), 19th Century.
Shaft buried below N end of Willow St. Labelled as Ironstone Pit on 1864 OS map, but situated along the N margin of an area of longwall Main Coal workings which were connected to those from Garscube No.2 Pit (to the N) by a short passage. See mine plan 3509 in refs for extent of coal workings.
