Coal mine (1873-1905) marked on Geological survey map, northeast of Tolcross Park, Shettleston, Glasgow. Possibly part of the Westmuir Colliery.
There is a chance that Wellshot Pit is connected to Wellshot Colliery as Hugh Glen, owner & manager at Wellshot Colliery is also associated with Westmuir Quarry & Brickworks.
Alternative Names: Wellshot Colliery
Notes: The name appears to come from Wellshot House, Tollcross or Middlequarter, with the pit to the southeast of the house.
Do not confuse with Wellshot Colliery. This seems to have occurred in the past with the Wellshot area at Tollcross/Shettleston confused with the Wellshot area in Cambuslang.
