Mine (Ironstone & Coal), late-19th to early-20th c.

Shaft sunk to Armadale Slateyband Ironstone at depth of 31 fms [57m]. Given coordinates suggest that shaft is buried under either a patch of woodland or school playing field. The site of an older coal shaft is located c. 80m to the SE, under corner area of playing field at [NS 9270 6805].
