Tollcross Burn (Loch Katrine St Culvert)

Sandthills Park, Loch Lochay Street, Sandyhills, City of Glasgow (Lanarkshire).

Now demolished section of culvert between Sandyhills Street and Balbeggie Street, built in the 1950s along the line of the Tollcross Burn between Loch Lochay Street and Loch Katrine Street to allow prefab housing to be built. After the housing was demolished the area became a park but latterly was semi-derelict. Between 2018 and 2021 the open stream was re-established (along alost its original line) as part of the Tollcross Burn Daylighting Prioect.

Notes: Loch Loch Street and Loch Katrine Street were constructed in the 1950s at the same time as the culvert. When Loch Katrine Street, Blackford Crecsent and Strowan Street were removed in the 1970s, Balbeggie Street was extended to Ardgay Street and Sandyhills Park was created.
