A series of surface swales along the edge of the car park lead to a grated access chamber on the line of Mall's Mire Burn. An underground pipe/culvert runs below the swales which act to slow or prevent flooding due to surface water run off. The grated access chamber drains the swales where the water runs underground into the Aitkenhead Road culvert.
