Mine (Coal), probably 18th cent.
Site of buried shaft that accessed a level & stoop-&-room workings in the Parrot Coal. See mine plans (S2326 & RHP22) for further details.
Alternative Names: Deep Pit, Pittenweem Waterless Shaft
Notes: This was later the site of Waterless Farm, depicted on the OS map of 1855. Labelled as 'Deep Pit' on 1789 mine plan, a name also used for a pit further W [site #10901]. References to Waterless are probably generic.
