Easy earth dig for approximately ½ hour gave access to stream passage, average height 1'6"/2'0", width 3'/4'. A 12 foot long by 6 foot wide chamber from which can be seen a side chamber / flattener. Access too tight for most people. Water depth, average 1 ½ inch / 2 ½ inch. Terminal point 6 foot round right angle bend. Roof too low, on gravel. Water very cold. There is a small 8 foot long chamber sharing the entrance and close to the entrance is a 2 foot long access to stream. [Jim Salvona, 1985]
Along Balquhidder track from viaduct, 2.5 km , branch up to east at tributary next to 2 m high hollow conical cairn. Tributary splits in three. Left channel usually dry but central channel runs past ruins of sheiling. Cave in true right bank downstream of two small waterfalls in small limestone gorge. Usually strong resurgence below cave entrance. Entrance chamber in two parts To right low chamber slopes up to dead-end at roomy bench. To left earth dig under boulder best negotiated feet first on ones back. A metre or so in oval shaped window overlooks stream passage. Average 1 m wide, 0.5 m high, 3 m in widens to 2 m by 4 m chamber. To right 'too tight' slot acts as window into 'flattener', 3 m long, 2 m wide. From chamber stream passage runs almost straight upstream 5 m. After 90 deg. bend to right, ends after 2 m with stream rising from gravel. [Southern Highlands]
