A large cave, 30' above sea level was excavated in 1961 by Dr Coles. 7' of occupation debris of varying periods, with a basal industry of Mesolithic affinitites on quartz, with a little flint. This occupation directly overlay traces of a raised beach.
This cave measures 6.0m across the entrance and 11.0m in depth. There is no remaining evidence of occupation.
Situated above Rubha Cruitiridh and 1.6km SSE of Tiretigan, this cave, which measures up to 6m in width at its mouth and extends into the cliff for a depth of 11m, was explored in 1961, and several hundred pieces of quartz and one flint chip were recovered (Coles 1961; Campbell and Sandeman 1964; Coles 1984).
