Mine Shafts to former coal Mine. Niddrie Pits, No.11. Gas testing essential. Low oxygen & high levels of CO2.
Site of fatal accident. GSG member Peter Ireson died on 17 July 2008 while testing gas meters in the air shaft of the mine.
Air Shaft capped by Coal Authority August 2008. Part of the site has since been built over with a new housing estate.
