Mine (Coal), mid-19th Century.
Treated shaft buried within square-shaped area showing traces of surface expression, beside patch of woodland. Sunk to Dunfermline Splint coal (38 fms) & abandoned prior to 1894.
An outline of the Splint workings from this pit is shown on mine plan S464 (see refs). The workings appear to be contiguous with those from the No.9 Pit that was situated ca. 420m to the NE at [NT 1619 8897].
