Mine (Fireclay), 20th Century.
Highly extensive subsurface complex linked to the Compston Mine. See abandonment plan in refs for detailed plan layout. A shaft was sunk in 1923, prior to a new mine starting in 1928. The clay was reached in 1929 and worked until the site's closure in 1970.
