5/8 Mile North of Ardwell Bay.
A Cave in the western sea shore of Stoneykirk situate near to Saltpans, it is in the face of a perpendicular [cliff]: the entrance is wide and [the cave] extends in for a considerable distance until stopped by a wall which had been built by some of the farmers who had lived convenient to it. From its dark appearance it gets the name Black Cave. [Scotland's Places]
Long triangular slot . Narrow entrance but slightly wider within.

Notes: Photograph by solwaycoastwise does not seem to match the description from Scotland's Places.
