Quarry then mine in Index Limestone.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: 6 fig. coordinates from Nisbet place this under the housing of Whitehaugh Road near the site of the former Wardhill Farm. This locality is just south of the larger Nitshill Quarry (sandstone, and infilled).
No sign of this on early maps, although an unlabelled flooded pit a short distance W of Wardhill farm is a candidate location (NS 5205 5973), now occupied by grassy ground beside a playpark along Whiteacres Rd. The MRA map indicates that a mine entrance is located in woodland (to W of Wardhill) at 5206 5979 (given coordinates), which is close to the Index Limestone outcrop mapped on the geol. survey map and a steep quarry-like slope on the 1st Ed OS map. It is possible that both sites are related, cf. airshaft.
