Notes: Given coordinates are for the 'Coal Mine (not used)' labelled on the OS 6" 1st Ed map. This lies immediately W of a (now-wooded) old quarry between Laxford Ave & Cartbank Rd, which according to the geol. survey map exposed the Index Limestone (aka Cowglen Lst). This survey also indicates that a coal pit was located at NS 5797 5988 in which the coal seam lay below the limestone.
'Old Shaft' also shown on N bank of the White Cart Water, at NS 5845 5962.
