"Glupie Bhrael: A wild and picturesque Goe East of Uamh Ruadh across the mouth of which is a natural arch of rugged rock. During a storm the waves forcing themselves into this Goe creates a noise like distant thunder which may be heard at a distance of 7 miles - Clupe or Glupe is a common name in Orkney and Shetland for narrow Goes with and without Natural Arches." OS Namebook.
This glupe or glupe is curved - see aerial. It is not known whether or not there is a cave tunnel at the south end.
It has a blowhole in its west wall which is fed from an unknown tunnel - probably not part of this glupe/geo.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Access: by sea. Launch off the beach of Strathy Bay. Park in the cemetary car park and rather a long carry over the dunes. There may be an easier launch from NC 83018 67761 on the E side of Strathy Point.
The above NGR is for the north entrance. The south entrance is at NC 80714 66495.
