A sea cave in the rocky foreshore, southeast of the Grey Mare's Tail waterfall on the shore of Luce Bay near Cairndoon. Crudely estimating its dimensions from aerial photographs and the 25" OS map of 1895, it appears to be 40 ft (13 m) wide, about 20 ft (7 m) high by 30 ft (10 m) deep with a squarish plan sitting at the back of a bedrock plateau just reached by high tides.
OS maps show the named cave as about 5 m long and 5 m wide.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: North Britain Siluro-devonian Calc-alkaline Dyke Suite - Microgabbro within wider area of Kirkmaiden Formation - Wacke.
Hydrographic Feeds: Solway Firth, Luce Bay
Hydrographic Resurgences: Solway Firth, Luce Bay
