*cave/arch (Riddled Kaim 1)

A fairly tall arch/tunnel/cave on an axis approx E-W. Navigable in top ¼ of tide.

There is a channel extending eastward through the wave-cut platform on that side.

The name 'Riddled Kaim' is recent - and subject to replacement if an older name can be found.

At least one current OS vs has 'natural arch' and a dotted line indicated. 1st Ed OS has 'Cave' beside the W entrance.

Photo 3 shows an oblique view of the E entrance to this cave, while also looking directly through the E entrance to cave 2 - on R.

plan on aerial shows the tunnels of all the caves on this promontory. Note the wave-cut platforms to E and W. This promontory is thought to be unique in the Grampian NE in having three tunnels through it. Tremuda, S of Stonehaven, has 5 caves formed from 6 tunnels - but only one of them goes through it.
