Rift and Shelter near Loch Mna.
On breasting the skyline, a small 20 foot [6 m] steep slope/cliff marked the western edge of a long thin plateau orientated on a north-south line. Towards the eastern edge runs a long rift some 20 to 30 feet [6-9 m] deep which serves to drain the area. At the southern end of the rift a very small overhung shelter was found, some 7 feet [21.3 m] long by 2 feet [0.6 m] deep and one foot [0.3 m] high. Compass bearing sights on Dun Caan peak (342° magnetic), and other points give a grid reference of [NG] 583/382 but the accuracy of this is questionable . The shelter is of some significance being in sandstone and exhibiting considerable angularity indicative of being formed by the removal of a boulder or boulders rather than due to weathering.
