Whale Cove 2

Notes: Access: by sea west from Gardenstown (closer) or east from Tarlair, Macduff. See photo to decide what tide level to aim at.

Length was measured using LDM on 11/7/25. Depth was half a paddle when the tide level was 3.2 m ACD.

1st Ed OS 25in shows 'Whale Cove' but does not say 'cave' or show a tunnel outline. Current OS does not show a cave dot.
OS Namebook for Banffshire, parish of Gamrie has "Whale Cove: A small bay terminating in a large cave. which is said to extend(ing) a very long way underground" This description probably applies to Whale Cove 1.
Photo 1 was taken on 16 July 20 at 13:43 BST, from near NJ 78269 65107 and the camera says it was looking 152 degrees (SSW) but is not very accurate.
Photo 2 entrance taken on 11/7/25.
Photo 3 looking inside the rather small cave. The rounded horizontal rock - looking a bit like an arm - has space behind it.
