Tunnel, myth?
"A tunnel is said to have connected Dingwall Castle with Tulloch Castle, part of which can still be seen through an air vent on the front lawn of Tulloch Castle. The tunnel has apparently collapsed, and the exact position of the Dingwall end has been lost. However since Dingwall Castle is around 1.45km from Tulloch Castle, and the tunnel would have to have crossed the River Peffrey, it seems rather an unlikely story." [Stravaiging Around Scotland]
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: "Arched tunnel entrance; segmental headed tunnel entrance" noted on HES entry for site.
Tulloch was a barony of the Bains until 1760, when it passed to the Davidsons. Now used by Highland Region Education Authority. [HES]
Given coordinates are a general location for Tulloch Castle, not necessarily any tunnel.
Claims of tunnel are noted on numerous websites, although repeated copy & paste of the same initial text is evident.
