Two shafts: locations at north of field, marked by circular walls?

Alternative Names: None recorded.

Notes: Shown as an active 'Pit No.4' on 1896 OS map (surveyed in 1894), but marked as 'old shafts' on OS 25" 1920 (surveyed in 1913) map. Located beside dismantled railway of the Steelend Branch Extension , although this served the Lethans Colliery to the N of Knock Hill, not No.4 Pit which appears to have been abandoned prior to construction of the line.
