Abandonment plan shows mine mouth with c.20 m-long passage leading to c.140 m-long & c.40-70m-wide workings that extended to ~[NS 32068 44795] & extracted a 5'6"-thick limestone, probably using the pillar-and-stall method. AP shows survey date of Dec 1889.

Alternative Names: None recorded.

Notes: See also: Crofthead Limestone Workings [Site 1331].

Mine mouth marked on 1923 Geol. Survey map, with this location being marked 'Old Shaft' on 1858 OS map (cf. inclined adit). Dimensions on AP not in keeping with the "20 acre" workings described on Crofthead Limestone Workings entry.

The mine workings extended ENE, under the former tramway / behind the Goldcraig Quarry (i.e. not destroyed by the opencast workings).
