Mine (Ironstone, later coal). 1896-1918.

Highly extensive & segmented workings in clayband ironstone. Pit location near SE extremity of ironstone workings which extend NE for approx. 0.5 km to [NS 3687 5230] & NW for c.0.7 km to [3603 5211]. AP for neighbouring Balgray Mine show that the NE areas have been flooded.

Initially an ironstone pit operated by Glengarnock Iron and Steel Co. Ltd, later also producing coal under ownership of Merry and Cuninghame Ltd. Shaft site now derelict with foundations of surface building at shaft site visible at end of a track.
