Fireclay may have been sourced from another Carfin Colliery pit (of which there were at least seven). Carfin Brick Works were centred on [NS 7680 5866].
The given 8 fig. coordinates are for Carfin Colliery Pits No. 1 & 2 (No.1 Pit 192m to Virtuewell Coal). Sites now occupied by grassland beside dual carriageway.
