Mine (Ironstone), 19th Century.
Labelled as 'Ironstone Pit' on 1864 OS map, beside site that would become the Caledonia Foundry (now Shuna St). Abandoned by latest 19th Cent. Shaft site almost certainly buried below obvious flower bed mound along Hugo St, just S of a play area.

Notes: Pit / shaft absent from 1896 OS map.
