Tunnel, Hydro-electric scheme.

A pipe feature bridging the upper reaches of the Allt Baile a' Mhuilinn into what appears to be a cut-and-cover aqueduct probably marks the E end of tunnel through Meall Glas, consistent with SSE general overview map. However, a dam structure further downstream at Airigh a' Choire Ghlais where a tunnel entrance has been reported is an alternative outfall point option. W portal likely to be at a dam structure along Allt Fionn Ghleann at [NN 5563 3995].

An outfall, which according to the SSE overview map is the end of an aqueduct, is clearly visible at the NW end of the Lochan na Lairige reservoir at [NN 59294 40969].

Alternate Names: None recorded.

Notes: Given length & VR approx., based on straight-line distance between intake & outfall at (given coords).

"The stream that I followed down into Coire Riadhailt was bone dry until a few metres before it joined the main river. Even that was running very low. I came across a small concrete dam that was diverting water into a tunnel underground." [Backpacking Bongos]
