Coal pit, later used to supply the adjacent Possil Brick Works with fireclay. The shaft site is now under an area of derelict concreted ground (site of demlished brick works).

"Colliery on Possil Estate to let - The proprietor is prepared to let the unworked minerals presently leased to the Springburn Coal Company extending to about 250 acres with entry at Whitsunday 1896. There are 2 going pits and a brickworks on the lands" [Glasgow Herald, 08/01/1896]

A brickworks was located at this site from at least 1869. The Possil Brick Works were still active in 1910, but had been abandoned by 1933.
