Trial Pit / Adit (Oil Shale), pre-1895 / post-1854.
Shaft site now buried below field boundary. Now-blocked adit marked on MRA map at ~[NT 0599 7438], placing it at wooded N margin of road.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Labelled as "Old Trial Pit" on 1897 OS map. Absent from 1856 Ed. Assumed shale mine as Geol. Survey map suggests that outcrop of Broxburn Shale runs between the adit & shaft.
