Multiple seams mined. Probably wrought blackband ironstone when the colliery came under ownership of the Glasgow Iron (& Steel) Co. post-1880. Site of No.8 Shaft now buried below residential car park, & No.7 shaft under grassland along S verge of Airbles Rd .

Notes: Labelled as 'Coal Pit' on 1864 OS map, & Parkhead Colliery pit No.7 (functional) on 1898 Ed. Geol. Survey map states Airdrie BB.I at 90m & deepest coal seam (Virtuewell) at 207m.
