Adit, probably pre-1855 to the Shotts Smithy Coal.

A number of shafts labelled 'Old Coal Pit' are located around this locality on the 1864 OS map, with the Geol. Survey map showing three shafts in the wooded Curry Burn gully between the level adit & Rosehall Road (two of these shafts being 4 fms [7m] to the Shotts Gas Coal).

Alternative Names: None recorded.

Notes: Adit condition unknown; any entry requires appropriate gas monitoring equipment due to coal risks.
