Devol Glen Rockshelter

Devol Glen, Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire.

Tiny rockshelter, probably formed by a largish boulder falling away from the cliff. Rock shelter can be approached from below by fording the stream at the foot of a steep sided gorge. Both sides of the gorge are steep and slippery and the east side in particular is overgrown by dense ferns, brambles and fallen trees. The last few metres to the cave are particularly treacherous with tree roots supporting moss which drops away when weight is applied.

Notes: Not worth a visit on its own but the other small caves in the gorge are photogenic if not long.
