Mine (Coal).

Site of mouth to main adit that extended ca. 250m SSE to access coal workings E of Devonknowes (which extended around Balhearty Farm & W to the edge of Coalsnaughton). The colliery operated from c.1850 to 1948, & the adit mouth at the given coordinates (which had been abandoned by 1900) was treated in 1966. See mine plan S4697 (in refs) for extent.
